
Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Outcome Measures and Mental Health in Orthopaedic Trauma Patients During Early Recovery, a study published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, analyzes some of the psychological and social challenges patients with orthopaedic trauma face, especially post-discharge.
The study co-author Heather K. Vincent, Ph.D., of the UF Health Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute, believes the patients “are facing a major life change” and many of those with no history of anxiety or depression experience some sort of psychiatric symptoms and face challenges after their trauma.
